Quick Hint #22

Unit Markers for Flight Stands

If you play one of those games that uses clear acrylic flight stands (which is more or less everything I play) you will know that it can sometimes be important to identify which flyer is which. This could be to record damage, to indicate which unit is the commander or even to show which unit of troops is embarked on which transport.

An easy way to do this is to use coloured washers. These can easily be places over the post of the flight stand providing an easy indicator of which flyer is which, whilst allowing them to be changed as required.

Washers can be purchased cheaply from your local hardware store in a number of sizes to suite your flight stand types and can easily be painted with regular acrylic paint. I always like to give mine a quick coat of varnish afterwards just to help stop the paint wearing off too quickly.
