Quick Hint #15

Hi-Gloss Finishes

CarsWhen painting high tech objects like vehicles or space craft you don’t need to have an expensive airbrush and apply layers of varnish to get a smooth glossy finish.

The results you see here on the car on the right was achieved with a can of Tamiya Metallic  spray but you can equally use a gloss car body spray from your local auto shop. The trick is to apply several thin layers to avoid the paint running or sagging, so patience is a must.

CansI would also recommend that you paint any details like the stripes and windows first and mask them off, as acrylic paint doesn’t adhere very well to the gloss spray without a light sanding.
